His hands were hurt so badly that he needed help to do even the simplest things, like opening a door. At first, a nurse lived in David's house and helped him. However, David did not like having a person in the house 24 hours a day Six months ago, David heard about an organization called "Helping Hands" that trains Capuchin monkeys to help disabled people. Capuchin monkeys are very smart. They are also friendly and learn to love the person they help. It takes two years to teach a monkey how to help a person. In the beginning, they do very simple tasks and get prizes from their trainer when they succeed. Later the monkeys learn to do more complicated things, like heating food and turning on the TV. David called "Helping Hands" and they brought him a monkey named Max. David liked Max immediately, but it took him and Max two months to get used to each other.
